Their beautiful late Victorian villa nestles close to the wild untamed and romantic coastline of Cornwall looking out across the Atlantic ocean on the West Penwith Peninsula close to the village of Botallack. Built at the turn of the 19th century for a local tin mine captain, Chymorgen retains much of its original charm and character with an impressive hall and oak staircase, wood panelled sitting room, a large Anglo-German library together with open fires for the colder seasons, and there is also a superb conservatory and pretty gardens. The accommodation comprises: bright and comfortable bedrooms with shower or bathroom. All provide stunning views of the glorious Cornish countryside across to the Atlantic ocean beyond. Breakfasting at Chymorgen is a delight with a buffet of organic local produce including: fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt, a selection of cheese and meat, fish, together with Alixx and Brigitte’s seriously delicious home made breads and preserves. Chymorgen provides so much more than a comfortable and friendly holiday destination for women in perhaps one of the most beautiful parts of Cornwall. Holistic massage and reflexology treatments are available by appointment. There is something uniquely special here at Chymorgen: an atmosphere of calm and tranquility where woman borne women can interact with other like minded women in a safe and very welcoming environment. There is an ethereal quality here that promotes a sense of peace and serenity that flows effortlessly throughout this enchanting and magical idyll. The holiday cottages are all named after indigenous broad leaf trees that are to be found in abundance around Little White Alice and the interiors of the cottages are simply to die for which is testament that suitability and caring deeply for the environment is not all sackcloth and ashes. You see for Simon and Rosie, caring for the environment is a way of life not just a recent whimsical attempt to jump on the politically correct bandwagon of sustainability as they have been practising it for years. Their stunning cottages come in various shapes and sizes that accommodate from 1-12 guests in amazing contemporary comfort and you can book all of them for an amazing gathering of up to 22 friends or family. The cottages sit in an area with lush gardens, and there is a beautiful natural swimming pool. Outside this little haven Simon and Rosie have a kitchen garden, nuttery and orchard from which they provide produce for their guests to enjoy. Simon and Rosie seem to have thought of everything right down to the little things that you always need but rarely find when self-catering and they even provide a welcome hamper sourced with locally produced goodies together with fresh flowers on your the table to greet you, and a handsome supply of free kindling and logs. Gentle reader I make no apologies for being slightly gushy about Little White Alice as it is without doubt a magical place to stay owned and run by two amazing and very friendly people. |
