There are just six pretty cottages here at Cartole that rest peacefully in six acres of private grounds and gardens, so as you can imagine it never feels crowded. All of the holiday cottages were borne out of farm buildings some of which are over 300 years old. For Geoff, the friendly and hard working owner, the sympathetic conversions have been a labour of love. His mission was to keep many of the original features in each cottage thus retaining their shape, integrity and fine architectural heritage wherever possible. Inside the cottages exposed beams and stonework frame living spaces where comfortable furnishings and thoughtful little touches just add to the character of these beautiful holiday home cottages. There are four 2-bedroomed cottages, one 3-bedroomed cottage and a single bedroomed cottage. All of the lounges are well furnished and have comfortable seating, digital television with DVD and video. The kitchens are well equipped right down to the little things that you always need when staying in a holiday cottage but rarely find. Polperro, the picture postcard fishing village, is nearby with its pretty harbour, narrow streets and jumble of fishermen's cottages and enchants and enthrals all who visit with tales of wreckers, pirates and smugglers. The rugged untamed beauty of the coast with the fabulous walks provide some of the most breathtaking and awe-inspiring scenery both rural & shoreside to be found anywhere in Cornwall and it’s all just a short drive away from your Cornish holiday home at Cartole Cottages. |

All the cottages have been lovingly and sympathetically restored without detriment to their charm, character and fine history, and here you will find stained glass windows, exposed beams, stone walls, the odd old iron bedstead, sometimes punctuated with modernity. This enchanting setting has been created with a minimal impact to the precious local environment by the use of locally sourced reclaimed stone, slate and pine. If you’re looking to stay somewhere completely different, why not try Beau Tunnel that is a converted Nissan Hut that has many quirky features. Past guests have described it just like staying in a gypsy caravan only much bigger with all mod cons!
